Hello! Peninsula Women’s Network!

Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving. My hope for you is that your day is filled with love, family, friends, joy, peace, and delicious food that nourishes your body!

For me, Thanksgiving is a time of reflection, a time for giving thanks and the signifies the kick off to the holiday season. Although, I have to confess, I’ve been listening to Christmas music for several weeks now! Typically, I wait until after Thanksgiving but I realized that what I love about this time of year is the “spirit” of the season and listening to Christmas carols puts me in the holiday spirit! Plus, Christmas music makes me happy and gives me all the feels!! And why wouldn’t I want to do something that makes me happy because let’s be honest, there is plenty of sadness and negativity in our lives. So, given a choice – I choose happiness!!

Did you know that being happy has health benefits? It’s true! You can find lots of great information regarding the benefits of being happy on the internet, in articles and even books written on the topic of happiness. Check out the article below:

What to know a secret? Truthfully, it’s probably not much of a secret anymore but if you are anything like me, you may need a reminder from time to time! Here goes…

“Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.” – Amy Collette

So, I ask you…what are you grateful for? Take some time to reflect and journal all that you have to be grateful for today and every day! Did you know that scientists have proven that one of the greatest contributing factors of happiness is how much gratitude you show! And as you know, what “we focus on expands, so when we focus on the goodness in our lives, the more of it you create!” – Oprah Winfrey.

I’ve attached a cute clip that reminds us of all that we have to be grateful for…enjoy!

in love, Nicole

Hello Peninsula Women’s Network!!

Happy fall y’all!

The temperatures have finally dropped and there is a slight chill in the air!! I guess it’s time for me to accept that summer has officially drifted away and embrace the new season upon us! A few mums and gourds from a local market later and I’m ready!! Are you a pumpkin spice and sweater weather person or do you prefer the carefree days and late nights of summer? I personally love, love, love summer but appreciate many aspects of the other three seasons!!

PWNs 40th Celebration

Who was at the 40th Celebration? Oh my goodness – PWN knows how to throw a party! From the beautiful ladies (I’m talking about you Erica Rice & Tracey Ferguson) greeting guests at check-in to the red carpet, every detail was perfect!! Christine Dutcher’s event planning skills are top notch!! Several members came together to execute Christine’s vision and it did not disappoint!! The venue was absolutely stunning – I loved watching the sun set on the river as I sipped my tea from Discover Teas. Thanks Emily Kamp & Mai-Anh Tran!! There are so many more businesses, people and details that made this celebration amazing that I could go on and on about but just know it was truly spectacular!!

I had the pleasure of visiting with friends, connecting with members in person that I had only previously “met” on Mighty Networks & the Virtual Networking Event and even making new connections with two ladies that I believe will be joining our organization in the near future! How awesome is it that the Celebration was in line with our mission statement to connect, support, and empower women on their professional journey. Kudos to everyone that contributed to the success of this event!

Please share your favorite moments and photos from the Celebration under the Cheers to 40 Years! thread on Mighty Networks!!

Hello! Peninsula Women’s Network!!

Nicole Powell here…your current Communications VP. Summer is coming to an end and I’m trying to get into a “new” normal as I try to navigate my kids’ schedules, my husband’s schedule, my business, setting time aside for my self care and of course, the fun PWN events, my power group meetings, board meetings and time with friends & family. It has taken a few weeks, but slowly, I think I am finding my way into a routine!

What about you? Does your schedule change during the summer months?

Once my kids are grown and living on their own, will the summer feel just like any other day of the week? Another month? Another season? Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences our membership in terms of work – life balance; does it exist? Is it a myth?

Have you achieved balance in both your home life and work life? If so, please post your tips and tricks in the new members platform Mighty Networks under the topic Professional Tips and Tools.

Speaking of our NEW MEMBERSHIP SITE, don’t you just love how easy it is to navigate? I am glad I’m able to access it on both my cell phone and my laptop, I love that it creates a sense of community, that I’m able to correspond with members in specific groups, in personalized chats and how cool is it that I can invite other women to join directly from the platform. There is so much going on in the new members only platform, be sure to log in and check it out. If you haven’t yet received an invitation, don’t worry, yours is coming soon!! Once you are able to log in, be sure to connect with me! I love making new friends and learning more about our members!! Which is why I’ve already registered for the 40th Anniversary Celebration – I love to party and what’s better than a celebration of women that support and empower each other? If you haven’t registered yet…please do so because I want to meet and connect with as many of our members as I can!!
